Vaisnhav Jan To Tene Kahiye - Zambia (150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi)
We would like to thank the High Commission of India to Zambia and the Ministry of External Affairs of India for giving us the opportunity to direct and re-make the Hindu devotional song "Vaishnav Jan Toh".
Published on 25 Jan 2019, “Vaishnav Jan Toh” was written in the 15th century by the poet Narsinh Mehta in the Gujarati language. The poem speaks about the life, ideals and mentality of a Vaishnav Jan (a virtuous, noble human being).
This re-make is part of a worldwide initiative undertaken by the Ministry of External Affairs of India in commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in 2018. Artists from over 150 countries contributed in paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi through his favourite hymn “Vaishnav Jan Toh”.
We had the honour of participating in this commemoration by representing Zambia through the re-making of this hymn. Produced by High Commission of India to Zambia.
